Environment
Concern for the environment is a key element in our mission at Farm Frites Poland SA. That is why we have a policy of employing environmentally friendly practices in the manufacturing of our products and are committed to the promotion of ecological projects.
- FFP has its own Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) which receives all post-production sewage. After treatment this is then directed to Lębork's sewerage. The volume and quality of sewage is constantly monitored and supervised by the laboratory of WWTP in accordance with the contract with Municipal Water and Sewerage Company (MPWiK), which also carries out its verification.
- The company's aim is to limit any harmful emissions and their effect on the environment, e.g. the recently installed heat recovery system will let reduce gas consumption by about 12%.
- A wide range of activities is in place to deal with wastes management. All waste from the potato processing is utilized for agricultural purposes, mainly to supplement fodder for breeding animals.
Packaging waste, such as foil and paper, are fully recycled. Since 2005 FFP has been a shareholder of Rekopol Organizacja Odzysku SA which represents the interests of both producers and importers of packaged goods, as regards their financial responsibility for the recovery and recycling of packaging from the products they launch onto the market. Rekopol also organizes numerous ecological campaigns and educational projects, such as No-Littering Day which is celebrated on May 11. This project is promoted by Farm Frites Poland on a yearly basis and we also encourage our employees to send the internet card available at www.dzienbezsmiecienia.pl on that day.
- In line with our concern for sustainability, FFP actively encourages the ecological awareness of employees, for instance saving the water, energy and waste segregation - in fact such a program of waste segregation has enabled FFP to limit four fold the amount of commercial wastes deposited in the landfill.
- The company has own rescue team consisting of employees trained and equipped in the event of a breakdown which may have an adverse impact on the environment. With this in mind, periodical practice sessions take place with emergency trials in conjunction with the local police, fire and emergency gas services.
- In 2001 Farm Frites Poland received the Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance certificate of compliance for our environmental management system, ISO 14001. The certificate was renewed in 2010. This commits FFP to carry out internal audits in order to monitor the environmental management system and to identify any possible discrepancies as soon as they arise.
